Psalm 95:1-5 nkjv
1 Oh come, let us sing to the Lord!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving;
Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
3 For the Lord is the great God,
And the great King above all gods.
4 [a]In His hand are the deep places of the earth;
The heights of the hills are His also.
5 The sea is His, for He made it;
And His hands formed the dry land.
This morning as I was driving to work, I realized that I am only ankle deep in the ocean of God. How do I go deeper? How do I let go, to be swept up by the torrent that is Him? Is it trust? Is it fear? Is it embarrassment over the sorry state of my mind?
In the verses above He shows me the keys to the Kingdom. When I lose myself in the joy of my salvation and am thankful, He reveals the depths of His greatness and love for me, like an ocean. It is in this moment I realize just how little I choose for myself in Him. So much more is available, why don’t I choose it for myself. He wants to shout to the universe His love for me.
Zephaniah 3:17 nkjv
17 The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”
Look at His words, He saved me then rejoiced with gladness, He tells me to be quiet and accept His love, Then, He sings about it. Once I read this verse and said, ” God I would love to hear Your singing.” He replied, “I am all the time, you just never listen?” Convicting in its truth and so easy to fix, just listen.
The prayer of the heart contains more truth. When I pray from my heart it does not rationalize the truth of my thinking like my mind does. Thoughts wondering, unable to focus on the truth. Let me resolve to pray from my heart the silent prayer of acceptance and take the plunge into the depths of Him. In that place we all sing together of our love for Him and He sings of His love for us. What a better place to be. A wise man once said, “Lord I believe, help my unbelief.”
