The Eternal Word John 1 1-5

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not [a]comprehend it.

All my life I have watched as supposed, “experts” in science and religion spar over the mode of creation of the universe. These experts pose questions and answers such as, “how could it have been made in seven days. It’s over thirteen billion years old.” Or, a personal favorite of mine, “how do you explain evolution.” I ask you, if God can create a universe why, can’t he create one that looks thirteen billion years old? And, if God created a dynamic, ever-changing universe why would he create static beings incapable of adapting?

One of the great lies that has been perpetrated on the people of God is that Creation and Evolution are mutually exclusive. If one is true, the other isn’t. I always asked these people, why? People of God exclaim the reason they don’t believe in evolution is that, “they believe in the Bible.” Well folks so do the demons. The evolutionists say, “ya, but what about the dinosaurs huh, how do you explain that.” Whiney little voices of irritation.

Couple of basic facts, God or the Intelligent designer of the universe cannot exist within it. By definition you cannot create the space you exist within. With that in mind let’s look at the passage above. The Jews did not have chapters and numbers to tell people where to go to find the place they are teaching on. The first few words of the scripture you were referencing was the hint. Genesis 1:1 is what John is referencing.

Scientific theory states that nothing existed and then everything did in a big bang. John says that nothing existed then everything did because of Jesus. Are they not the same thing? Let’s break it down a bit more.

In Genesis 1 1-2, it speaks of God preparing to create the universe.

The History of Creation

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness [a]was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

What he is saying is that God created time, “In the beginning.” Space, “darkness was on the face of the deep. “The Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.” The stuff of the universe was waiting for God Word. Then we have verse 3, “Then God said let there be light and there was. This Word was the power of creation. All of the experts say we exist in space time. Well, He said it first. You have time, space and matter. This meets the requirements of our universe.

John then takes this further showing us how Jesus fit into the process of creation. There was nothing just like in both theories of creation. Then everything appeared. How? It’s right there in the Book. Jesus opened His heart like when superman tears off his suit. All of creation then poured thru Him in an instant and then the door closed. Then the Word of God formed it into what we see. We see a world that is both billions of years old AND not billions of years old. A paradox, God told me years ago, “I exist in the paradox.” If He created His universe, He could make it look and feel like anything He wants, period.

For those that say there is no way this can be even close to the truth I admit you could be right. But I know this. God is not shaking in His boots praying you believe in Him. Your belief in God or not does not make Him real or not. But His belief in you? That’s another story. Maybe like it says in John 1:5, “the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness does not comprehend it.”
